Essential Questions: How do Baba and Amir make the transition to living in America?

  • Jumpstart: More than ten years have passed since Amir sacrificed Hassan for Baba’s approval. Imagine that you are Amir and are writing a letter to Hassan. What would you say to him? Write this Jumpstart as an actual letter, beginning with “Dear Hassan,”

  • Read and discuss Kite Runner Chapter 11, pages 136-142.

    • What happens between Baba and the Nguyens? Is this incident compatabile with what  you know of Baba’s character? What do you think motivated Baba to act the way he did? (127-128)

    • Why does Baba refuse the food stamps? What would you have done if you were in Baba’s position? (130-131)

    • Why does Amir refuse to give up writing? (134-135)

    • Who is General Taheri and who is is his daughter? How does Amir refer to his daughter? (141-142)

  • KR Theme Essay Complete #1-4, 5a and 5b. Due Thursday, April 16.

  • KR CH 8-13 Vocabulary Glossary due Monday, April 20.
