Essential Questions: What conflicts get in the way of Amir’s redemption?
Jumpstart:In Chapter 23, Farid asks what happened when Amir met with the Talib. Amir responds, “Let’s just say we both got what we deserved” (298). Later in that chapter, Rahim Khan says in his letter, “that good, real good was born out of your father’s remorse. . . And that, I believe, is what true redemption is, Amir jan, when guilt leads to good” (302). What do you think redemption is? How does one earn redemption? Did Assef and Amir get what they deserved?
