SWBAT summarize plot events and character motivations by writing answers to study guide questions.

Vocabulary: coup d’etat, monarchy, republic, sociopath, hierarchy, nuances, ironic

Essential Questions:

  • Jumpstart: A coup d’etat occurs when a group tries to take over the government by force. In The Kite Runner, the monarchy is overthrown and a republic takes its place. Describe the emotions that a child (8-12 years old) might feel in the middle of such a violent event.

  • Turn in March Jumpstarts. Write the amount of points you earned on a sticky note and put the sticky note on your best entry. (12 days x 5 points each = 60 points possible)

  • KR Ch. 1-4 Study Guide

  • Read Chapter 5. 

  • Homework: Read Chapters 5-6 by Friday.
