  • Jumpstart: Elie Wiesel writes about his faith (Jewish) throughout the novel. Use your prior knoweledge to see how many of the following terms you can identify. Jot down a few notes to show what you know, even if your knowledge is a bit cloudy.

  • Night Ch. 1 Reading Guide: Process what you read in Chapter 1 by asking questions, drawing an illustration, and finding figurativelanguage.

  • Business Letter Notes and Rough Draft: Review the format of the business letter. Then write a formal thank you letter to Mrs. Martin thanking her for presenting on Monday. Tell Mrs. Martin three things that you learned from her presentation and tell her what you can do to spread peace in the world.

Agenda

  • Jumpstart: Listen to an excerpt from Doris Martin’s biography, Kiss Every Step, pages 19-20. Summarize and explain your reaction to the reading.

  • Timeline of the Holocaust Era: You will be assigned a year from 1933 to 1945. Read the description of that year. Divide the events of that year into months or seasons. Create a timeline broken into months or seasons that shows the important events of that year. Summarize the important events and write a description of the event. Be prepared to present your timeline to the class.

Homework: Finish timelines, if necessary.
